Medicines, alcohol and toxicology
Detecting and measuring substances such as alcohol, medicines or drugs in the body.
- Testing for alcohol biomarkers in blood:
Analysis of phosphatidylethanol (PEth), an alcohol biomarker with an intermediate half-life, in whole blood. This test is used to monitor alcohol abstinence or drinking patterns in contexts such as restoration of a driving licence, assessment for organ transplantation and detoxification in cases of alcohol dependence. - Hair toxicology analysis:
Detection of psychoactive substances, medicines or alcohol markers in connection with the issue, retention or renewal of a driving licence, offences committed under the influence of drugs and/or legal custody proceedings. - Medical toxicology, addiction medicine and pharmacology:
Analyses used for therapeutic drug monitoring, particularly for medicines with a narrow therapeutic index, in order to adjust doses and ensure efficacy and safety. The analyses can measure medicines, metabolites and toxic substances, as well as detect drugs. Certain markers are used to identify and monitor chronic alcohol and cigarette consumption.
