Autopsy Technicians within the Legal Medicine Department
Présentation de Christina, Numair, Eileen and Philippe
At the LNS, every mission contributes to scientific truth and justice. Today, we are highlighting an essential role: that of the autopsy technician within the Legal Medicine Service (SMJ).
Every day, autopsy technicians assist forensic physicians in carrying out autopsies – work that is technical and meticulous, while also requiring a strong sense of humanity. From preparing the autopsy room and equipment, to the mandatory post-mortem scan and assisting during forensic examinations, they pay close attention to every detail to ensure a rigorous analysis.
Their role also includes post-autopsy disinfection, as well as coordinating with families to arrange burial or cremation, always within a respectful and confidential framework.
Working closely with forensic physicians and law enforcement agencies, they contribute to clarifying the circumstances surrounding deaths, particularly as part of judicial investigations. This work is all the more rewarding because it helps establish the facts, provide answers to families and support the work of justice.
