Our missions

The Health Protection (HP) Department supports public health and healthcare for problems caused or aggravated by the environment:

  • We use advanced laboratory analyses to diagnose diseases and to prevent health risks.
  • We monitor population health and health risks.
  • We provide clinical diagnoses for patients suffering from diseases caused or aggravated by the environment.
  • We formulate scientifically based recommendations for a proactive health policy at the national, European, and international levels.
